I know there is alot of different views about the A5 and I think the next Government in the Republic and French , German, Banks and ECB will not be intrested in putting 500 million euro into the A5 North of the border in another EU State techically speaking and latest Environmental directives on Particulate matter 2.5 pollution Noise and these corridors for the A5 and A6 only pass PM10 assessments becoming EC law on the 11 June 2011.

Another view is the Irish Government probably Fine Gael Labour even they did fund the A5 in Northern Ireland when is there going to be funds to complete the rest of route south of the border

In view with fuel prices rising as rapidly as they are and so much uncertainty over Mid East and so much demand from China and India a good plan would be fund the Belfast Cork Train line via Dublin with buying the latest Inter City diesel trains like we see in Germany France or Mainland European countries and upgrade parts of the track and signalling if required and a three way split between the Irish European Commission and UK and even it was 400 million would be very affordable to the Irish Government and Rail would be a alterative to road as it will soon cost 100 stg to fill a car with fuel and offer some mobility if any major political conflict broke out in any major Oil Exporting country

Sorry to say that it looks like Ireland is being governed the last 2 years as badly as the Bush Jr. administration governed here in the U.S. Hope the Irish people manage to stop their government from tearing up and pouring concrete over national treasures that can never be put back together again or replaced.

Vince;
some good news at least and fair play to you for the part you played in this. Instead of groans we should ask ourselves what would have happened had the recession not happened?
Good bless the recession and may it last long. Perhaps it will help us find our souls.

Well the Irish of all people on Earth ought to have known better than to destroy sacred sites in order to feed the greed of man.
They have forgotten or choose to pretend to forget their contract with Mother Earth and the Sidhe.
Proceed at their peril onto the God of Love Aonghus near the Fairy palace of the Brugh and pay the ultimate price.
It is the duty of the Ayrish people to take their soverignity back from those who pretend to work for us.
Let those with eyes- see.
let those with ears- hear.
